Noel Gallager Anti-Tout Approach

Noel Gallagher announces intimate London gig

Noel Gallagher has announced a special intimate gig at The Dome in Tufnell Park, London, with his High Flying Birds.

However, unlike the rest of the tour, fans have to apply for tickets before being able to buy them.

Tickets will be £25, a bargain for such a musical genius.

Gallagher (or his ticketing people behind the scenes) has cleverly put in place measures that will prevent touting from occurring. Tickets for his tour have sold out and are going for stupid money.

To gain admission into the Dome, fans MUST present:
  • confirmation email
  • the card used for payment
  • photographic identification
as well as these measures, tickets are strictly limited to TWO per person and CANNOT be sold.

Is this too extreme?

In my opinion, no.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say I despise touting. Fair enough, sometimes fans can't attend the gig and must resell to get their money back, but when tickets are being sold for triple the face value it is disgusting.

There are few things worse than wanting to see your favourite band but the only available tickets being quite simply unaffordable.

It is always going to happen and it is a part of the 'gig scene' nowadays.

There is the argument that anyone who wants them badly enough will be up and ready for the time they go on sale, but when a gig sells out instantly there isn't really much of a choice.

So, to wrap up this post, bravo and hats off to Noel Gallagher for selling tickets in this way. We shall see how effective it is and if this is the future of selling gig tickets to prevent touting.
