BBC Radio 6 Festival has announced a second year for a weekend of well known bands.

2015's event sees bands such as the Maccabees, Jamie T and Interpol play Newcastle's O2 Academy as well as Gateshead's Sage.

Acts have been getting announced all day and the excitement and shock is getting ridiculous.

Amongst the first acts were The War On Drugs and Interpol, a fantastic scoop for the region. They will play the Newcastle O2 Academy on February 20th. They will play alongside MOGWAI after they were announced later this evening.

The Saturday of the festival (which clashes with the NME Awards tour, featuring Palma Violets and Slaves) is possibly the greatest day of the weekend.

One of the breakthrough acts of 2014, Royal Blood, have been announced to play at the festival. They sold out the Riverside in seconds in October last year so expect a packed crowd there.

Alongside Royal Blood, the announcement of back from the wilderness the Cribs has sparked excitement amongst music fans!

Hot Chip, Maximo Park, and others will be present on the Saturday alongside Royal Blood and the Cribs.

This day will certainly be a must for all music lovers.

After not having a Newcastle date on their upcoming UK tour, it will be a dream to catch them live.

Closing the festival on the Sunday will be the Maccabees. Similar to the Cribs in the sense that they have been vacant for years, Maccabees are fresh from supporting Kasabian and ready to play new material.

Also playing on the Sunday is Jamie T. He sold out Newcastle's Academy in November last year so it will be interesting to see the reception he receives.

Jamie T and Royal Blood are joined by Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers, Glass Animals, and the Charlatans to name but a few!

EXCITING!

Tickets go on sale this Friday and are extremely limited!

BE QUICK!
